Haaaaaa! I agree with almost all of this. I, too, need to stop buying new games until I have played the ones I have. I am a sucker for a good expansion and even more for a good component upgrade. Terraforming Mars alone could cost me far more than the original game. But I think the vast majority of gamers like to colour inside the lines and would decry the mixing of parts to Frankenstein a new game. It would destroy the purity of the collection of mint condition games in their original boxes. Still, gaming will see a slowdown only if new entrants to the hobby slow down too. That is far from certain.
