Oh … my family wasn’t poor but my dad was very controlling. I did a PhD as a way to prove something to myself but I totally agree with all your reasons for quitting. I afford to quit for reason so I stuck it out but now I am unemployable in research 6 years out. I think most people in doctoral programs should get out or even better, start. I am also just unemployed.
